The all new redesigned Chase Bays Power Steering Kit for Nissan 240sx / Silvia S13, S14 or S15 is designed to eliminate common factory power steering leaks, fluid spillover & overheating issues w/ improved aesthetics, durability & stealthy design. It's a full 100% upgraded A.N. fitting replacement of the stock reservoir & hoses. From reservoir to pump to rack.
Our over-engineered Triple-Baffled Power Steering Reservoir (aeration & spillover proof) is at the core of this kit. It optionally comes w/ a Setrab Oil Cooler that can mount under the driver side headlight (or in the center) for additional airflow. Chase Bays only uses the highest quality components available. Our reservoir is constructed of 6061 aluminum & is anodized black w/ a laser etched cap. The reservoir itself uses our aluminum bracket & can be mounted in stock location.
Triple Baffled Power Steering Reservoir
Countless hours of research & development were put into our newest Power Steering Reservoir. This isn’t as simple as putting 2 fittings on a fluid container & calling it a day. It's far more complex. The smaller fitting on the Reservoir is fluid return from the rack. It can be sent back at pressures up to 120psi. When that hits the fluid in the reservoir it can cause extreme foaming aeration if not properly slowed down & directed. The more the steering & RPM on the car, the higher the pressures will be. This is also what commonly causes spillover through the cap under heavy use. Most people think their fluid is boiling over when this happens but in most cases it's..just turbulence.
We've put serious engineering time into internal design to negate this aeration & spillover entirely. The performance of this Power Steering Reservoir has rave reviews from our customers. In the reservoir photos you can see a "chimney" inside, there is a multi-layer design w/i this chimney. We can't give away all our secrets, but just know you won't have any aeration or spillover issues. Between on track testing & computer fluid dynamics, we were able to slow down 120psi to 12psi in 2" of fluid motion. That's just 2 of the baffles, it doesn’t end there.
Power Steering is a loop hydraulic system so it needs to be vented. The cap has a unique baffle design to block fluid from pushing out the vent. Go to any road race/drift/rally event & look at all factory (& most aftermarket) power steering reservoirs. By end of the day there is spillover all around the reservoir. It was our goal to be 1 in 100 reservoirs to have no spillover. We're proud to say; that goal has been met.

Reservoir Mounting
Our innovative reservoir mounting bracket allows you to use 1 bracket for S13, S14, & S15 to fit the reservoir in stock location. The stock brackets aren't interchangeable. On S13 the bolt holes used are slightly further back on the shock tower (like S14/S15) but positioning is nearly the same.
If you have a top mount setup then it may contact the reservoir. On our mockup chassis we have a top mount GT2871R & it still clears. Use our install photos as reference. Hoses | Adapters
The high-pressure rack to pump hose is -6AN stainless steel, PTFE lined & black PVC coated. This coating is crucial, it makes the hose resistant to chaffing if it routes against metal or another hose. The -6AN rack to reservoir & -10AN reservoir to pump hoses are abrasion resistant, black nylon sheathed & stainless braid lined. They're all completed w/ high end black aluminum AN hose ends & Metric for the rack & pump AN conversion.
The rack connections are highly upgraded. They use an inner o-ring seal instead of a sealing washer or flare seal, so the hex will not visibly seat all the way. This is okay as the seal happens on bottom of the fitting. S chassis racks have deep threads so we make custom length adapters & we use an o-ring twice the thickness from stock one. Rest easy as you'll get a leak free power steering setup when this is installed.
The stock banjo fitting on the pump is completely replaced w/ our 18mm Banjo to -6AN adapter. It does reuse the factory banjo bolt since it's spring loaded & restricted. This opens up a ton of valuable room for piping. These engines are pretty old now & we continued to have customers ask how to install it when their pump was missing this fitting. Not to mention Nissan no longer sells that banjo fitting.
Setrab Fluid Cooler
Our optional cooler add-on features a black Setrab 10 Row Oil Cooler (11.25in x 3in x 2in) that's all aluminum. It's black coated for a durable & stealthy finish. Very compact but very effective. We’ve seen 20º F drops in temperature from this cooler.
